Thu, April 27, 2017 2:21 PM

Hi everyone my name is Michael and I'm 43 years old. Have had bowel resection for diverticulitis 6 years ago . After some issues such as bloody diarrhea and bad pain, enough to put me into the hospital for 5 days with colitis
from the liver to anus.Had a colonoscopy Fri and got the results but don't know exactly what it means ha ha. From what I've looked up it's highly probable I have UC. Of course I will wait until I see doctor but that's not until the end of May. Yeah I'm on prednisone and I can't sleep but it has helped. Look forward to learning from and getting to know some here in next few weeks months and maybe years. Just so you can tell a little about where I may be since I'm sure this stuff will make much more sense to you guys I will include some of results on Path Repory :
Colon Right: Acute Colitis . SEE COMMENT
Colon Left: Biopsy:!Active Colitis.SEE COMMENT
COMMENT:The right and left colon biopsies show cryptitis, crypt abbscesses, increased chronic inflammation within the lamina propria and focal mild architectural distorttion (branching). No evidence of granulomas, displasia or malignancy. The differential diagnosis includes an acute self limited colitis, medication injury, and early inflammatory bowel disease, among others. Correlation with clinical findings is recommended.

A colonoscopy can help find ulcers, polyps, tumors, or areas of inflammation or bleeding. A biopsy can show whether these growths are cancerous or noncancerous. If cancer is found, the type of cancer can be determined. I have visited https://writingdaddy.net/ site for educational help online as a colonoscopy may also be done to screen for cancer in people who have no symptoms and no family history of colorectal cancer.

Hello; My name is George. I am a dentist and USAF veteran pilot. I went thru the mill with colonoscopies. I spent 7 days in the va , thought I needed surgery. Was on prednisone 60ml/day for 7 days then tapered off. Word of advice: dont count on GI docs for anything. UC is in you. It effects you forever. All GI guys want is for you to have blood in your diarhea so they can justify scoping you. Scoping does not reduce your chance of getting colon cancer at all. Think of UC as a pyramid. What occurs in the walls of the pyramid effects you evryday. What we want is to lead a normal life. GI guys only treat you at the apex of the pyramid.Even if you are scoped and they dont find inflamatory cells, it doesnt mean you have no symptoms. You must find a family physician who will help you. I found one who had UC. He prescirbed me budesonide which does not give you side effects and allowed me to taper off prednisone. GI guys will taper you off the pred, then give you antianflamatories and when you get a flare up they tell you to go to the er, Screw them. I use 3mg budesonide if I get a new flare up, 3mg/day for 3-5 days. Lomotil for minor diarhea. Gi guys want you to take meds everyday. For what? Some get a flare up every 6 months, some every 20 years. I also found that candidase(walmart.com) makes my guts feel good. It took me 2 years until my guts felt normal after the flare up. I will never even tlak to a GI guy again.
