Hi there I am a new member. I was diaganoed with Crohns disease in November 2018 mostly of the small bowel. Ialso have a narrowing in my intestine but do not require surgery AS OF YET. I have been following a low residue diet since nov but on my last visit to my GI consultant i can at last introduce a little fiber into the diet. anyway ive been on steroids the last 3 months  and predisone last 6 months , now im wittling down off the steroids onto Imuran , im dubious about Imuran but hate the feeling of having nothing to fight my Crohns with otherwise. anyway my question  is during my decline before my diagnosis my period stopped and I havent had one since, I mentioned this to my consultant and he said usually when someone gets so sick and looses weight the way I did the ovaries suffer and then hair skin etc all of which I am experiencing at the moment. I just wanted to ask has anyone else experienced no menstrual cycle with Crohns and how long before it came back? also my doctor thinks i need weekly blood tests while taing imuran first off to check my liver /kidney status but my consultant said i only need get blood checked every 4 weeks. Im not sure what to do, has anyone else had to get bloods done weekly on Imuran first off? Thank you

Hi!
I am also newly diagnosed with Crohn’s, mainly of small intestine. I suffered from the disease for close to 2 yrs before finally getting diagnosed and I can tell you during my flareups I would always skip my period. I could tell my nutrition was not well in those months because I always lost weight/ lost appetite and was always lethargic. As soon as my flareup would pass, my body would put back on about 5-10lbs of weight and then get my period shortly after the rapid weight gain. I hope your symptoms improve, and glad to know I am not alone!

The year that I required surgery, I didn't have a period for a year.
But I also was diagnosed shortly after that year with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Have you went to an OB? I would recommend it.

Best of luck to you!!
