There are a few resources to find RX assistance and co-pay programs including the ones listed below

www.needymeds.org
www.RXoutreach.org
www.panfoundation.org

You can also ask your daughter’s doctor about samples and generic medication (ie mesalamine).
If your daughter is a child, there are some pediatric grant assistance programs including:

Pediatric Grant Assistance

  • If you need financial assistance for a child’s healthcare costs, you may want to reach out to the Healthwell Pediatric Assistance Fund http://healthwellfoundation.org/pediatric-assistance-fund.  Children with IBD are eligible for grant assistance, if the foundation has current funding available.

  • United Healthcare Children’s Foundation provides grants for “financial help/assistance for families with children that have medical needs not covered or not fully covered by their commercial health insurance plan. The Foundation aims to fill the gap between what medical services/items a child needs and what their commercial health benefit plan will pay for.” For further information, please visit their website at: http://www.uhccf.org/

  • First Hand Foundation provides funding for individual children—both domestically and globally—who need assistance with clinical necessities (such as surgery, medication and therapy), medical equipment and travel related to care. Please visit: https://www.firsthandfoundation.org/request-funding/

Social Security benefits for children

There is another option that you may want to consider for your child including applying for social security benefits for him.

  1. Social Security for children diagnosed before the age of 21.
Visit www.ssa.gov 666.
  1. Benefits for Children with Disabilities https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10026.pdf
