YouTube videos on Crohn's Disease

Sat, August 10, 2019 5:22 PM

I watched a couple of success stories on youtube concerning flareups and overcoming crohn's.  Has anyone tried their diets to see if they work?  One video suggest to go on a veggie/fruit liquid diet using a juicer.  Let me know if anyone has had success.

thanks

Hello:

I believe that every case of Crohn's is geared towards each individual. No two people will have the same results in diet or medications. It's a crap shoot.

I've seen the videos. In my case, there is no diet or medication that works to put this disease into remission, much less cure it. What you eat and drink does effect your bowels, but to suggest that a liquid diet alone will cure Crohn's is dangerous and, quite frankly, I don't believe these videos.

I personally cannot drink juices of any type. I can eat no vegetables that aren't canned. I can eat no fruit. My diet is based strictly on carbs. Very carefully monitored by me.

You can go to a nutritionist who specializes in digestive diseases to see what is recommended for you. But, I believe you'll find what works for you will be apparent in what foods you eat.

There is no cure for Crohn's. There's barely an effective medication out there for this disease. Be careful looking for a fast cure. Experiment with the foods you eat; keep a diary of how certain foods effect your bowels and then choose your diet accordingly. Once you realize what you can eat comfortably and without the usual Crohn's symptoms, it will be one thing off your mind. Also, you may want to make sure that you have Imodium on hand at all times. Not the generic. They don't work as well as the name brand. You can buy it online much cheaper than at any store. I get mine at RiteAid, 48 to a box for 12.99. CVS sells it 24 to a box for 16.99.

I sincerely hope that a cure or an effective treatment is found soon. And, I hope you find a good diet for yourself. Be as well as you can be!
