Hello all!
The name is Becca; I am 25 years old and was just diagnosed with Ulcerative proctosigmoid colitis officially on 01/16/20 and also have a gluten intolerance (testing further on this because my PCP & GI believe I may have Celiac disease as well).
For being a noobie to this whole thing & all, and having a ton of questions, I just have one for now:
I know each symtoms varies person to person, but how has fatigue affected you? How often does it fluxaute during a flare? Do you experience fatigue even when you enter into remission? Does/can stress play a role in the severity of the fatigue?
I normally get pretty tired and get tired quickly doing the smallest tasks. Today for the first part of the day, I actually didn't feel too fatigued, which is pretty rare for me. However, it was a pretty intense day, as my husband had surgery on his wrist today early in the morning (and as you all know, the mornings SUCK....) so I was pretty on edge. Well when we got home, I passed out & didn't wake up until 3:00pm (we got back home around 9am), and ever since waking up, I am srtuggling to go downstairs and make myself something to drink. And I'm wondering if maybe the stressed caused the fatigue?
Thanks in advance & I look forward to meeting you!!

Hello gemmalax24,
Thank you for your response! You actually helped answer quite a few of my questions I had regarding my fatigue that comes with U. Colitis. Although sometimes my GI symptoms are not as severe, I still get pretty bad fatigue. But I was curious if the fatigue would decrease overtime once I can get into full remission. I was afraid that would be the case though...
Have you been able to meet with your doctor to discuss a different diet to relieve the fatigue? I'm curious to see what your doctor says, as my doctor is not helpful at all.
Thanks again for the information!

I have been handling IBD (I have Crohn's) for the past two years and I still don't know how to handle my fatigue. Fatigue is definitely one of the biggest symptoms of most IBD conditions and can totally fluctuate in and out of remission (at least in my experience). I'm currently working with my doctor to see if foods can help with fatigue but I know that stress will definitely contribute. Fatigue can also just show up because you have IBD. It's a tough one but try reaching out to your doctors and asking more specific questions.

Hi lala,
Nice to meet you & thank you for your response. That's how I feel all the time too! I feel like I can count on being super fatigued, lethargic and depleted and there's nothing I can eat or drink that gives me energy. It almost feels like my body is glued to the bed because I am too tired to get up :/
