Hello, this is my first post...excited to get to know everyone.
My daughter (5yr old) was diagnosed with UC late last year and we have been treating her with Apriso 2 capsules a day. We recently took her off her medication via the doctors suggestion to see if she really does have UC. Its been 22 days since she has been off meds. No blood or diarreah but she consistently gets pain in her rectal area and subsequently has a small bowel movement accident.
She doesnt realise that this pain is causing her to have these accidents. Does anyone have any experience with this? Her GI has suggested giving her Miralax to cleanse her but I hate being dependent on it because I dont want her to have uncomfortabless at school. What do these bowel movement accidents mean? What can I do?

Hi there,
My name is Becca and I was just recently diagnoised with UC as well (specifically proctosigmoid colitis). I too have been taking Apriso (0.375mg, 4 capsules daily) since Nov/2019, and it has worked pretty good so far; however, I still always experience constant pain in my abdominal area and near my rectal area. Is it possible your daughter may have hemmroids? I know for me those cause a lot of pain in my rectal area. Aside from taking my medications, what I have tried is rubbing CBD cream on my tummy/abdomen area and I also use a heating pad. For my rectal pain, I have found soaking in a hot bath with Epsom salt to really help, too. Those two things help with my inflammation and pain a lot.
For the BM accidents, does she just have trouble making it to the restroom? Or does she have the constant feeling of needing to go to the bathoom? Like a constant straining feeling? I know I have that feeling a lot and it's so tiring.....
I hope this helps!
