Joint pain

Thu, June 30, 2022 9:58 AM

Hello, I'm newly diagnosed with Crohn's and came to the diagnosis in a roundabout way. I have been experiencing terrible joint pain for two years which completely overshadowed my GI symptoms. During my flares I was unable to walk and even in non-flare times the joint pain limits my movement and activity. Finally I was sent to a gastroenterologist who found it was Crohn's. I know joint pain is common with Crohn's but I am wondering if anyone else has had such a journey or experiences joint pain as their worst symptom?

You should be aware that managing Crohn's disease is the first step towards managing joint discomfort. Joint pain and Crohn's disease flare-ups frequently happen together, so if you treat one issue, the other is likely to follow. But, your doctor could suggest one or several therapies based on the severity of your joint pain or how frequently it comes up.

I have horrible joint pain I find using icy hot for joint pain works well and cbd lotion Management of joint pain in patients with IBD is not always straightforward, says Dr. Falloon, and may require multi-pronged approach. That means working not only with a gastroenterologist but with a rheumatologist as well.

The first step in managing your joint pain is to get control of your Crohn’s disease, says Swaminath. Typically, Crohn’s disease flare-ups and joint pain happen simultaneously, so if you can take care of one problem, the other will follow suit.

But depending on how painful or frequently the joint pain flares up, your doctor may recommend one or more of the following therapies.Working with a physical therapist, who can teach you range of motion and strengthening exercises, can be effective for managing pain, notes Fallon.

Exercise helps reduce stiffness, maintain joint motion, and strengthen the muscles around the joints for people with IBD,
