Holiday Traveling Stress Help

Sat, November 09, 2013 1:54 PM

Hello. I am traveling to a city five hours away to visit family for an upcoming holiday. I get very nervous and stressed out when traveling and am nervous since I am in a flare up right now. Does anyone have any advice on traveling by car when having a UC flare up?
Thanks,

I think that the Holiday Traveling Stress Help program is great because you can learn a lot of things about how to deal with stress when you are traveling. I personally recommend https://masterbundles.com/templates/presentations/powerpoint/travel/ source for free templates. It also helps people cope with their stress as well as helps them work through any issues they may have while they are away from home.

I bring some of the large potty pads for dogs, they are similar to the pads used in the hospital to provide a barrier for blood or etc. sanitary napkin type obsorbing material on top and plastic on the bottom. I do this in case I am in the car and I know I can't make it to a bathroom. Sorry, kinda gross and graphic but it would protect your car seat.
I have a 5-hour flight new month to attend my son's wedding and I am already in a panic about how disastrous it could end up. My plan is to load up on anti-diarrhea meds and take a prescribed anxiety (Xanax) medication. As I have always said "I would rather be constipated for a week than have diarrhea in my pants in public". I also am going to use an adult diaper as extra protection.
I have found zero ways to control it and literally only know when disaster strikes seconds before it. So...can't control it, but I can contain it.

I agree with two of the other people. When in doubt take Imodium or lomotil. It isn't the best way to go (ha ha) from a medical stand point but at least you won't have to worry about stopping every ten minutes or having an accident. I work on a boat, so if I ever have any doubt, I just take an Imodium.

I have a great wish to visit Disneyland Paris once in my life. According to me it is an ideal destination to enjoy and fun for the family in holidays. I hope I will go there soon in future.

Following! My in-laws are flying my family to Disney World for the holidays - I haven't been on a "real" vacation in 16 years and I've been recently diagnosed with UC - but my symptoms are constipation. Any flight tips or suggestions on how to calm my anxiety are appreciated.

I get the same way, what helps me to ease my mind is to take an Immodium. I know it's not the best but it helps calm my nerves that I took something to control the diarrhea like symptoms.
