Speeding Tickets

Thu, October 02, 2008 12:00 AM

Last week I was travelling from a friends house through an area that hasn't really been built up yet and I had to go to the bathroom.  I saw a strip mall and must have sped up to make the light at the intersection to run left into the mall and was hit by radar by an officer travelling in the other direction.  He spun around and pulled me over.  Fortunately, he allowed me to drive to the mall, go to the bathroom and come back, but was extremely unsympathetic to my situation and gave me a ticket anyway.  When I showed him my "urgent needs" card, he just said "what do you want me to do with this?  Do you want me to contact the Secretary of State's office and place a restriction on your license?"  I was floored.  Apparently, he wants me to travel no further than down my street if I have Colitis.  Has anyone else run into this problem and is there anyone I can contact regarding this situation?  Thanks.

Last week I was trveling on highway an was speeding looking for a road to pull off so i could hit the woods an use! A partol clock me doing 80 in a 55 I told him what I was doing give him my driver lic an insurance card an my can't wait card. I told him to leave my ticket on my seat cause i was in a bind. He had compassion for me and didnt write me a ticket. I saw later that evening an went up and thank him. He told me he very well understood. My point is you do have people out their that does care about us and our needs to have to go!!!!

No, but that's terrible. Is there any way to report that officer?

Chicken1  I have to say that i've been in situations where i needed to use the bathroom like right now.  The first time was not only a shock, but it was my nightmare come true.  It was like ok now this is the last bastion of embarassment i had to endure.  After the second time at least i didn't have to drive home with a huge mess on my hands.  I stopped at a gas station and cleaned myself up as best i could.  Now what i've done is purchase a porta potty so if need be i would be able to pull over and just go.  sure it looks strange, but i'd rather get a ticket for pooping on the side of the road, then having an accident both in my pants, and with another motorist.  Give that a try.

The card they are referring to is the CCFA membership card.  I need to get a new one of those myself.

That nasty cop...I would hope if something like that ever happened to me, they would be sympathetic, give a warning, help you get to a restroom...I have had to speed up a bit to get to restrooms before and hadn't really thought about being pulled over, because my priority was to get to the restroom!  So sorry that happened to you.  Too bad the card didn't help you.

The urgent needs card comes with membership in the CCFA, it's printed on the back of your membership card.  Do yourself a favor by getting one--and at the same time you can help fund the organization that takes care of us!

as for the speeding tickets... i have been in that situation in the car many times.  i absolutely know how life-and-death that situation feels like, but do keep in mind, that it is safer to crap your pants than to have a car accident.  :-) that cop sounds like he could have said something similar, but instead he was sort of a *** about expressing it.  the one time i got stopped by a cop in that situation it was already too late... i was speeding home after an 'accident' at work and was in a hurry to get back in time for something.  somehow, miraculously, this was the only time i've ever been stopped without getting a ticket.

I am sorry to hear this. I myself have most definitely sped in the direction of the nearest bathroom from time to time, and wondered what I would do if pulled over. When it hits...you need a bathroom ASAP! I don't have any advice but just know someone else feels the same way you do!

P.S. How do you get an "urgent needs" card? My doc has never mentioned it. Thanks!
