Traveling with Enemas

Sat, July 04, 2009 11:06 PM

I am traveling by air for the first time since being diagnosed with UC almost a year ago.  Unfortunately, my disease is steroid dependent requiring nightly use of entocort enemas.

What are the FAA rules regarding traveling with enemas?  Can I bring them on board with my carry on bag (preferable) or do I have to check them with my checked luggage.  I'd obviously like to carry on my meds to ensure they come with me to my destination.

Does anyone have experience with this situation?  Should I ask my physician for note of medical necessity to show to the TSA people?

Thanks in advance.

TSA has some guidelines on their website- I have traveled with enemas, too.  I take a few with me in carry-on and check the rest if I am going away for awhile.  Make sure you have a perscription or the original pharmacy box they come in with your name and the perscription. Let TSA know you have them and screening goes easier.  Hope this helps.
