I was diagnosed in 1994 with ulcertive colitis and have been fairly healthy and seem to stay that way for 1 1/2 - 2 years between flare ups. I am curently in the mist of another flare up and on prednisone, enemas, Hyomax and 12 pills of asacol. My question is with the lack of energy and pain, does everyone just lay in bed to recuperate and heal quicker? When I dont stop everything I seem to not improve. I have been on the these medications for over 4 weeks and the ct scan doesnt show any improvement. So are we suppose to just stay in bed to heal faster? I have heard exercise is good for us but I get so wore out and pain in my colon that I have to sleep the next day. I have limited food intake so that I dont have to run to the bathroom but I am down to 105 lbs. I just wish someone could say exactly how we are suppose to heal. I will do it if it will work even if it means sitting in bed for a few weeks. Any suggestions out there?

when i was working, i got up every day and put one foot in front of the other and kept moving. id go lay down in the locker room during lunch. the rest of the work day id just tough it out. now that i am retired i get up and put one foot in front of the other and just keep moving. when i feel bad i lay down flat. when i feel better i get up and do what i can. you have to lay low when you feel bad and do all that you can when you feel ok. its tough. working was *** .
