Concerts/Movies

Mon, March 10, 2008 6:40 PM

While I'm not much of a travelor, I usually attend a number of concerts over the course of a year. When I was initially diagnosed, I made a real effort to continue to do so, it gave me something to look forward to, especially as listening to music was one of the ways I was able to relax when I was most ill.  I continue to have issues with the occasional "festival" outing (or minimum club menu purchase) where often you can't bring in outside food. The inside fare is usually fast food (or decaying out in the sun), and I end up giving this long explanation as to why I need to "sneak in" my plain turkey sandwich, bag of pretzels and box of juice. This happened at a minor league baseball game once, my dad was all ready to come to my defense, but I guess I sounded pathetic enough. I still find this to be a problem, anybody else have any ideas? I do manage to have my movie snacks stragically hidden!

Go girl!  I feel sorry for guys with Crohn's cause they have no where to "hide" and stash their food!  pretzels and water and other "snacks" can be smuggled into the theatre in our purses!  I have done that for years.  Too bad ..... even if I didn't HAVE Crohn's I would do it ...... you have to be nuts to pay $4.50 for a small popcorn!  ha

I asked my GI dr. if he would sign the handicap form to get a parking plate.  He said no problem.  Just bec. you don't limp around, doesn't mean you are not a candidate for one.

I have one for the last 5 years and will get a new one when it expires.  This way you can park quick if you need to run into a restroom!  I have had people tell me that I can't park in a handicap spot bec. I am not a senior citizen or visibly disabled.  I tell them, "I sure can, see my plate!!!"

Some people are ignorant to the fact that there are a lot of disabling diseases that are not obvious.  Too bad for them; you must do what's best for you!

I would also like some information about the cards and possibilty of handicap parking for my state (MA).  I have often been refused use of restrooms and pleading has not always helped.

I never really thought about it but like they have those cards to use the restroom when ever you need it they should have a card where you are allowed to carry food items in to movies, concert, ect.
