Traveling out of state

Right after being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease I went to Wisconsin which turned out to be a bad idea. While the anxiety of visiting friends brought on a flare up which resulted in excruciating pain and much more. One thing I have learned is that its always best to let your gastroenterologist know when you are going out of town so he or she can give you some last minute pain meds and other stuff in case of emergency and to know a gastroenterologist there just in case something were to happen and you have to be rushed to the hospital.

I'm planning on going on a mission trip for a week, in a little under a month. and I don't have my crohn's in remission yet but i really want to go and my youth pastor completly understands so i wont have too mcuh physical work to do and they will make sure i have the right food and stuff- do you guys think i can handle this? I just feel that I take enough from everyone else so I'd like to give back something. O and just so you know we are going to Mississippi, and I'm from Wisconsin, so a long ways from home.

Hi, I'm supposed to travel to Victoria, BC in June and I admit, it has crossed my mind how I will do in terms of bathroom availability.  I had Ulcerative Colitis for many years and had to undergo 4 stomach surgeries to have my colon removed.  Now I have what is called a J-Pouch - with a J-Pouch, I have to go to the bathroom immediately after eating so this is a problem for me.  Especially if I am walking around and am away from home.  Thank you for posting comments about this subject.

Thank you for this advice.  I'm going on a long-planned trip in July for 10 days and 3000 miles from home. I have concerns about how my body will handle it.  I will definitely alert my doctor before I go.

That is such a good idea.  I'm always taking a whole load of medicine with me when ever I go any place.  It's terrible that I always have to think about all the medicines to take with me.
