For my job I am required to go on recreational trips to amusement parks and other activities with some of our program clients and other staff about once every two months. These trips stress me out immensly because I am stuck in a large van with about 7 clients ranging in age from 7-18 and one other staff member- for an hour to an hour- hour and a half at a time! Some of the routes are rural and there might not be a restroom stop for 30 minutes. I am so afraid of having an accident. I try to watch my diet 2-3 days before and bring a kit with wipes, a bag, and a change of bottoms. I wear a skirt or pants with elastic for easy off and on. I also take Immodium the night before and the morning of. I guess I am worried about what to do if I have to go...sometimes I cannot hold it beyond a few minutes and getting out of the car and going on the side of the road would be mortifying with all of those people "watching". I have told a few people I work with about it, but I am not sure if they understand. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

I travel for work sometimes too. If I am w/ a group of folks that I am close to or comfortable with - I just tell them. However sounds like you might have clients w/ you also. If it were me and I did not feel comfortable disclosing my condition - I would not lie and I would not deprive myself from toilet runs. Just make a point of telling the driver firmly that you need to stop and don't let someone defer you. If they ask can it wait - say no. Think about it -everyone even folks w/ out crohn's has at least once in their life been in situation where they have to run for toilet. So your asking /telling them to stop multiple times at worst will give them impression that perhaps you just ate something that did not agree w /you. No big deal. It happens. Better to have them think that then to risk or have an accident - then it would really be embarressing.
