EMDR Treatment? (Not Crohn's/IBD specific)

Fri, February 10, 2017 8:39 PM

Hey everyone. New to these sorts of forums.

Recently been told that I'm thrashing about and yelling in my sleep. Had someone refer me to an EMDR therapist. (If you're unfamiliar, as am I. Just got done Googling it.)

Was wondering if there was anyone in the forum who has received such treatment and wondering if they could tell me a little bit about what it's like, if it improved their mental health, and by some miracle, led to improvements in their crohn's or colitis symptoms.

Thanks to all who read. Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

EMDR had the ability to help alleviate any psychological effects of your disease, such as anxiety, depression, etc, which may in turn help with your symptoms. I briefly did EMDR therapy while training to be able to do it myself. Basically it helps your brain to reprocess experiences and create a new idea for what it will be like in the future. So for me I processed about my anxiety and it seems to have helped for the most part.
