Had my 2nd colonoscopy yesterday and went home with proscriptions for a retention enema and suppositories. Ugh. I've used suppositories before and dealt with it. I haven't tried the enema yet but how in the heck will it stay in there. I don't think it's wise to do it in my bed unless I get plastic sheets and find somewhere else for my poor (easily grossed out) husband to sleep. Am I going to have to sleep on the bathroom floor? I'm so disgusted by everything right now and just feeling pretty down about the whole situation. Sorry. I'd love to hear your experiences or tips on how to deal with having to use these things.

Tell you the truth, budesonide oral does not bother me systemicaly. So why in teh world would a physcian want you to do that when a capsule can do the trick?

It's not really that bad unless you're flaring really bad in which case the urge to release it it greater. It goes away after a couple minutes. Sometime it's helpful to warm it up under tab water (not too hot). Less discomfort this way.

Update, in case anyone else is searching for info on experiences with Colocort enemas. My fears were pretty unfounded. Feeling depressed, I laid out a puppy pad under a towel on the bed in the spare bedroom and followed the instructions. Nothing leaked out, it didn't feel awful and was only slightly noticeable that I had put anything in there. I was afraid to move for a while, but after 30 mins my arm was falling asleep so I adjusted and my fears of medicine squirting out all over the place did not materialize. I'm going to sleep solo again tonight with the towel and puppy pad, just to be sure, but I'm fairly certain I will at least be able to sleep somewhat normally while I have to take these meds. Side notes: 1) Excuse my misspelling of prescription earlier, 2) Fun fact I learned while researching this: some people take enemas for fun, even retention while walking around (which I didn't realize was possible). While that was hard to wrap my mind around, it did make me a little less fearful.
