Nicotine

I was diagnosed with UC in 2010. Didn't know what it was etc. After flare ups, bleeding, endoscopy strong dose of pred, I was manageable. Then all symptoms off etc. Kinda. My condition all changed in around 2013 when the girl I was with at the time who was studying medicine told me there were studies around nicotine and treatment of UC. She smoked. I thought it was a ploy to get us to a mutual activity together rather than my snubbery of her antics. However it got so bad i was willing to try anything. So I did... ONE OR TWO CIGARETTES A DAY DID IT FOR ME. I don't f***ing know how it works but it worked for me. I can't tell you to smoke but I can't stand by rule people suffer this and there's a medicine there for this. Of course the side effects of this 'medicine' are atrocious - death, cancer etc. But. It worked to manage symptoms of this so you need to try it if you're symptoms are bad and you can't take it even with the prescribed meds. All I take now is 25mg 6-MP (was allergic or sulfur in Aza) and 3g pentasa per day. I eat pretty much what I want. I'm healthy anyway. I gym, swim, etc. But I eat piping hot chillies, pizza on occasion (maybe once or twice a month as a guilty pleasure), no issues. Sometimes if I'm feeling minimally fragile I'll keep the croissants and stuff like that to a minimum. Muesli etc is also potential issue. So why do I write now after being for years all under control, going to the toilet 2 times a day, etc? I will tell you. I am writing from my gym toilet. Where it feels like I'm back to my old 'shi*ty' ways. Why is this happening you may ask? Well, a week ago I decided my rollie cigarette treatment was becoming ever so slightly addictive. I was enjoying it slightly too much and it didn't fit in with my healthy lifestyle. I also recently, due to personal stuff in my life, am going through a bout of depression and so am becoming anxious and indecisive over things I was previously decisive about. So I decided I wasn't going to smoke anymore. Instead, I've toyed once again with the idea of vaping. Anyway. I decided to move to VAPING. I've got a brand new Wismec CB80 vape with 3mg nicotine in it. I've been vaping a lot with it. Anyway, all of this is simply to say that even vaping the nicotine does not have the same protective effect as smoking. I just had a toilet-full to prove it. That hasn't happened in 3 years. I've had to rush out of lifting my weights in the gym with those urgent stomach pangs we all know only too well. So I'm left with a choice - smoke/vape. It's a vicious cycle and I really don't want to smoke again as I feel my breathing back j can see and taste the world in all its colours again and I don't want nasty cigarette smoking around me. But it seems I must. Thoughts welcomed. Happy to be part of any study.

That's interesting because nicotine always made me shit immediately. However, I found that THC works 100 percent of the time for myself during the last two weeks. This might not apply if you're not in a weed friendly state like CA. But if you are give it a try. They have little vapes that have CBD/THC options incase you want to control the psychadelic* effects. Just a (healthier) alternative.

I've read the study regarding smoking, too.  Why not just use the nicotene patch though?  I Believe that's what the study participants used.
