Hi there;  I have  been diagnosed a little over year ago with proctitis.  I was doing the rowasa enemas for a while.  Then my GI swichted me to suppositories and taking asacol.  I got bronchitis back in Jan. and my M.D. put me on antibiotic-zpack.  Ever since I have been bleeding and cannot seem to get it stopped no matter what.  I am very frustrated.  I've quit taking my meds(asacol 3x daily) because I'm so frustrated-nothing seems to help  except metamucil.  I  still bleed but it is more controlled with metamucil.  Have you ever heard of Digestive Advantage for Crohn's and Colitis?  What is your opinion?  I go back to my GI on April 1-so we'll see what he says.  I hate to keep taking med if its not helping. My girlfriend has IBS and said that the digestive advantage may help.  I checked out their web site-testimonials seem good.  I don't know--all I can say is I'm tired of this.  Thanks.

Hello, I took Asacol 1600mg  three times daily for almost 9 years for my Crohn's and had good results with it, when Lialda came out last year I did my research (I am a pharmacist) and talked to my doctor and he switched me to the Lialda at the same daily dose (4.8 grams once daily). I didnt think it was possible but my symptoms if anything got better and it is so liberating to only have to take the medication once daily.  The research shows that there is little if any difference between the two medications when given at the same total daily dose. I hope you find a regimen that works for you soon, keep an open dialogue with your doctor and keep trying.
